# Jaccard > Jaccard is an AI agent framework and managed backend. Built for long-horizon agents: progress survives pauses and interruptions, and tools run in an isolated sandbox. Jaccard is in early access. Agents are taking on work that outlasts a single session: they run for hours and pause for people. You define an agent in Markdown and code, deploy it with `jaccard deploy`, and Jaccard runs it. ## How Jaccard works - Define your agent. Deploy it. Write instructions and skills in Markdown. Add custom tools in code, then deploy on Jaccard. - Run code in isolation. Define your sandbox once. Jaccard provisions it when your tools need it and reuses it within the session. - Pause and resume. Wait for human approval or an external event. Pick up where the agent left off. ## The building blocks for production agents - Durable execution: Preserve progress between steps. Resume after a pause or interruption. - Sandboxes: Give your tools an isolated workspace to run code and work with files. - Model choice: Choose the model that fits your agent. - Channels: Connect the same agent to Slack and your own applications. - Schedules: Run recurring tasks automatically, from daily reports to weekly reviews. - Configuration in code: Configure your agent and its sandbox in code, versioned with your project. ## The team behind Jaccard Founded by Vivek Patel, Charles Srisuwananukorn and Adam Goldman. ## Get started - [Early access](https://tally.so/r/5B6J8Q): sign up to try Jaccard. - [Contact](mailto:info@jaccard.ai): email the team. ## Links - [Home page](https://jaccard.ai/) - [Privacy policy](https://jaccard.ai/privacy-policy) - [Terms of service](https://jaccard.ai/terms-of-service) - [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/company/jaccard-ai/) - [X](https://x.com/JaccardAI)
